What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supervisor-Ambassador Operations position at Sound Transit?

Salary range is $28.85/hour to $62.50/hour, with a midpoint of $45.67/hour. New hires typically receive between minimum and midpoint, however, we may go slightly higher based on experience, internal equity and market.

GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Supervisor of Ambassador Operations is responsible for overseeing the Fare Engagement Coordinators, as well as various aspects of equipment and resource management, ensuring efficient purchasing, budget adherence, and maintenance. Lead and support teams in equipment organization, space planning, and administrative tasks. The Supervisor will drive the implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs), manage project-related tasks, and maintain effective communication with staff to enhance overall operational efficiency.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The following duties are a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.

  • The performance of assigned staff, providing guidance and feedback to ensure effective team operations.
  • Coordinates with coordinators and other team members to address issues, adjust schedules, and implement plans.
  • Conducts meetings with coordinators and maintains communication with staff to ensure alignment with operational goals and policies.
  • Manages purchasing processes and ensures adherence to budgetary constraints.
  • Organizes and assigns equipment, manages its maintenance, cleaning, and lifecycle replacements.
  • Plans and maintains space allocations, including lockers, badges, and key access.
  • Oversees the distribution of handouts and printed materials.
  • Updates and maintains Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Manages related projects and ensures that all tasks are completed according to established standards and timelines.
  • Utilizes project management tools to drive risk management, issue resolution, and effective decision-making.
  • Collaborates with project consultants and vendors as needed.
  • Champions and models Sound Transit's core values and demonstrates values-based behaviors in everyday interactions across the agency.
  • Contributes to a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion in alignment with Sound Transit’s Equity & Inclusion Policy.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience: Associate’s degree in Public Service, Public Administration, Business or closely related field and four years of experience in managing talent, recruiting, and training adults in an organizational setting; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Two years of leadership, budgetary, planning and workforce management experience.

Required Licenses or Certifications:

  • Valid state driver's license. This position is responsible for transporting equipment to fare engagement program personnel.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects efficiently.
  • Proficiency in budget management and purchasing processes.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills.

Physical Demands / Work Environment:

  • Work in a mainly performed in a hybrid office and transit vehicle environment.
  • Positions working in field may occasionally be exposed to dangerous machinery, extreme weather conditions, physical harm, hazardous chemicals, and/or extreme noise.
  • Position is responsible for management and set up of equipment such as brochures, inspection equipment, uniforms, etc. May be subject to bending, eye/hand coordination, grasping, hearing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, standing, talking, vision, and carrying and lifting up to 25 pounds.
