We offer the opportunity to join a passionate team of 20 individuals who are leading the effort of ending Veteran homeless in Seattle/King County. We are looking to employ individuals who want to join our mission at the forefront of this effort.

 

Our SSVF case management team works together with approximately 450 Veteran households annually, assisting Veterans experiencing literal homelessness in obtaining housing as well as assisting Veteran households at-risk of homelessness in obtaining housing stability. Our team splits time between working in the community and the office/home, and takes the approach of, “meet them where they’re at”, literally, as an effective way to build relationships and trust, which leads to housing and stability.

 

As an SSVF Case Manager, you should believe in Housing First principles, and have demonstrated an ability to be resourceful and knowledgeable of housing resources. 

 

Responsibilities

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) Case Manager provides rapid re-housing services, including outreach and short-term case management, to Veteran households experiencing homelessness in King County.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Make connections with identified Veterans in King County. Complete street, shelter, encampment, transitional housing, and community partner site outreach.
  • Determine program eligibility, assist Veteran households with obtaining proper documentation, and complete program enrollments.
  • Work with Veteran households to identify goals and needs associated with moving into housing through a housing stability plan; maintain and update plan as needed.
  • Collaborate with Veterans to obtain housing, despite barriers that they may face, including evictions, criminal history, lack of income, and physical and mental health conditions. Advocate on behalf of Veteran with landlords and property managers.
  • Request and issue financial assistance following SSVF guidelines based on individual client needs identified in housing stability plans.
  • Connect Veterans to community partners to meet identified needs that our program cannot meet, including on-going support after a Veteran household completes or transitions out of our program.
  • Provide referrals to all applicable resources.
  • Attend Veteran case conferencing and other interagency meetings, and work closely with community partners including HUD-VASH, PSH providers, other SSVF providers.
  • Complete required documentation accurately and within established timeframes.
  • Maintain timely and regular supervision and communication with your supervisor.
  • Implement SSVF program changes and complete relevant trainings.
  • Ensures billings and all data collection meet and follow agency policies and procedures and SSVF data collection guidelines. Maintains participant files and related records in keeping with agency, county and state guidelines.
  • Provide back up to fellow case managers and serve all Veterans who are served by SSVF.
  • Participate in work groups to help shape evolution of the SSVF program.
  • Other duties as assigned at the discretion of management.

 

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES & SKILLS

  • Demonstrate skills and experience in working with a wide range of housing barriers.
  • Ability to demonstrate skills at presenting problems and communicating effectively with collateral organizations having contact with the individual and/or the
  • Demonstrates the ability to work well independently, as
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge regarding Veteran services/resources and social service resources in King County, and the compounding factors contributing to Veteran homelessness; including mental health, social adjustment, and cultural considerations specific to Veterans preferred. Because of the nature of the target population, experience with ethnic/cultural diversity is
  • Must have sound judgment, maintain appropriate boundaries, work effectively with others, be able to communicate clearly, and have excellent problem solving skills.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related field. Work experience may be considered in lieu of degree on a case by case basis.
  • 1 years of experience working in social services.
  • Previous work with Veteran households experiencing homelessness and/or familiarity with SSVF program preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS

  • Must be able to obtain a WA State Agency Affiliated Counselor credential within the first 60 days of hire.
  • Washington State driver’s license, insurable driving record required, and access to a vehicle for use during work hours.
  • Must successfully pass criminal background checks.

Compensation: $26.27-$28.69 per hour
