Description

This is a paid internship, range of $22 / hr - $39 / hr (depending on role and qualifications) for those currently pursuing undergraduate degrees and higher rates for those currently pursuing graduate level degrees.

Tentative 2025 Internship Dates :

  • Semester students : May 19th to July 25th
  • Quarter students : June 16th to August 22nd
  • GENERAL PURPOSE

    Sound Transit has an exciting internship available for the summer of 2025! This is a great opportunity for currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate students who want to observe and participate in real world application of their current field of study. This opportunity will allow the intern to gain valuable experience within the Asset Transition Office under our Agency Oversight department.

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.

    List job duties :

    The successful applicant will have an opportunity to process, evaluate, and develop / format critical pieces of work that will assist the Transit Expansion team. This is an opportunity that can help demonstrate and hone skills related to the following :

  • Technical and engineering comprehension and problem understanding.
  • Public and group speaking.
  • Computer skills (i.e. report creating, business intelligence, visualization).
  • Business and Process Management and continuous improvement.
  • Gaining broad experience in the operations of a Public Transit Industry.
  • Immersion in ST Values : Collaboration, Quality, Inclusion / Respect, Integrity, Safety, and Passenger Focus.
  • List potential projects that may be assigned :

  • Potential projects for the intern may include : operational readiness and transition rail projects, system integration testing support, post asset transition analysis and more.
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

    Applicant must be a current college student in good academic standing, enrolled in an accredited four-year university, and working towards a degree in, Accounting, Urban Planning, Engineering, Business, Public Administration, or Construction Management or other closely related field, or technical discipline or relevant two-year certificate.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Independent self-starter and able to work well in a team.
  • Strong interest in learning about and working in public transit.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT :

  • Work is performed in a standard office environment.
