Job Summary The Entry-Level DAS (Distributed Antenna System) Technician assists with the installation, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of DAS and wireless communication systems. The role is ideal for someone with basic technical skills and a willingness to learn on-the-job under the supervision of senior team members. Key Responsibilities
Installation and Setup :
Assist in installing DAS equipment, antennas, and cabling at customer sites.
Perform tasks such as pulling, terminating, and testing cables (coaxial, fiber, Cat5e / Cat6).
Mount and secure DAS components like antennas, remote units, and head-end equipment.
Testing and Troubleshooting :
Use basic tools and equipment (e.g., spectrum analyzers, OTDRs) to test signal strength and quality.
Identify and resolve minor issues with cabling or connections under supervision.
Site Preparation and Maintenance :
Prepare and clean installation areas to meet safety and technical standards.
Assist with maintaining and updating DAS infrastructure, including repairs and upgrades.
Documentation and Reporting :
Maintain accurate records of installation activities, test results, and system configurations.
Communicate progress and issues to the team and project leads.
Compliance and Safety :
Follow safety protocols, including the use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
Ensure installations meet industry standards and customer requirements.
Qualifications Education and Experience :
High school diploma or GED required.
Relevant vocational training or certification (preferred but not required).
0–1 year of experience in telecommunications, networking, or construction (entry-level welcome).
Skills and Competencies :
Basic knowledge of electrical and RF systems is a plus.
Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints, schematics, and installation diagrams.
Proficiency with hand and power tools.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
Physical Requirements :
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various physical environments (e.g., rooftops, confined spaces).
Comfortable with climbing ladders and working at heights.
Ability to stand, kneel, or bend for extended periods.
Work Environment
Work is performed at client locations, including commercial buildings, stadiums, hospitals, and other facilities.
Travel to job sites is often required.
Must be available for overtime, evenings, and weekends as needed.
Additional Requirements :
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
