Purpose of the Job
The Cable Assembler is responsible for complete cable assembly including but not limited to pin crimping, wire splicing, heat shrink, sleeving and labeling.
The person in this position must perform their tasks with minimal supervision from the Senior Cable Team Leader.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Follow processes and written procedures to assemble cable products
- Able to read cable assembly prints, drawings, schematics and wire run lists.
- Perform crimping, splicing, cutting, stripping, staking, labeling as necessary.
- Perform cable testing as needed.
- Follow all ISO and ESD related processes and procedures.
- Perform heat shrink sleeving processes when required.
- May apply glue, epoxies or other potting or adhesives as required per the print.
- Work in a timely manner to support production schedule
- Must be able to comply with IPC 620 inspection standards and build product that will meet quality standards.
- IPC-A-620 certification preferred.
- Responsible for recording time using MRP and data collection tools
- Ability to use wire strippers and other related production equipment for the assembly of cable products.
- Assemble connectors and switches
- Perform continuity testing.
- Retrieve and put away all raw components and materials to perform job and after completing job.
- Use automated and semi-automated equipment per instructions and adhere to all applicable safety requirements.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and guidance.
- Maintain a clean work environment.
- Prior experience in cable assembly and with MIL-Spec cables.
- The ability to gather materials and tooling necessary to perform work in an organized manner.
- Detail oriented.
- Work well independently or as part of a team.
- Can communicate effectively.
- Interpret drawings and specified dimensions properly.
- Good attendance.
- Use of soldering iron from time to time may be required.
- Must be a US Person (US Citizen or Permanent Resident)
- No Relocation
