Field Engineer II
We are an MSP Mentor Top 100 company looking for an experienced Field Engineer to join our Field Services group. The successful candidate is a disciplined, self-motivated IT generalist who enjoys working with people as much as he or she enjoys working with technology, computers, and applications.
The position is in the Westfield, MA area. Travel to the Greater Springfield Area, and occasionally to Central and Eastern MA will be required. Please only apply if you are in the Westfield, MA area or plan to move to the area.
Job Description
The Field Engineer II’s tasks and responsibilities include:
- Travel to clients in Western Massachusetts and occasionally to other areas in New England, otherwise in person in the office in Westfield MA.
- Technical support for desktop computers using modern operating systems.
- Systems support for various Microsoft products, third-party software, and cloud applications.
- Provide support for high-visibility system and network issues including performance or outages.
- Technical support at the network level: WAN and LAN connectivity, firewalls, and security.
- Remote access solution implementation and support including VPNs and Remote Desktop Services.
- Provide recurring on-site maintenance and end-user support.
- Manage multiple issues concurrently, switching tasks frequently, with successful results.
- Effectively track status and time in ticketing system in near real time.
- Update technical documentation as needed and promptly.
- Troubleshoot and manage escalations from the help desk, project team, and managed services groups.
- Manage your own tickets to completion following company policy and guidelines.
- This role will qualify for shifts on the 24x7 on call rotation for a week at a time.
Skills Desired
- At least 3 years of IT experience in a customer facing support role.
- Intermediate skills with Microsoft technologies including AD, Group Policy, Office 365, and Exchange.
- Solid hardware troubleshooting skills and ability to work with manufacturers.
- Experience with mobile devices and business applications for iOS and Android.
- Solid network troubleshooting skills: TCP/IP concepts and LAN/WAN issues.
- Experience troubleshooting issues related to DHCP & DNS.
- Experience and familiarity with firewalls, routers, managed switches, wireless controllers and WAPs.
- Working knowledge of Cisco, SonicWALL, Sophos, and Meraki appliances.
- Experience with Hypervisors such as VMWare is a plus.
- Experience with Anti-Virus and Anti Malware tools including Sentinel One, Sophos, Malware Bytes, AVG.
- Knowledge of all supported Microsoft Desktop Operating Systems.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Experience with ConnectWise and ConnectWise RMM is an advantage.
- Experience with MacOS is a definite plus.
