Position Overview:
We are looking for a highly skilled Snowflake Data Engineer to join our ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) compliance initiative. This role involves designing, building, validating, and maintaining secure and scalable data solutions in Snowflake, in full compliance with ITAR regulations.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Snowflake, SQL, ETL processes, and ITAR-compliant data handling, along with hands-on experience in orchestration and collaboration across global teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Modeling & Architecture:
Design and implement performant, scalable, and compliant data models within Snowflake to support ITAR data requirements. - ETL Development:
Build robust ETL pipelines using Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services (IICS) to ingest data from multiple sources into Snowflake while ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and security. - Snowflake Optimization:
Leverage Snowflake capabilities such as clustering, materialized views, data retention, automatic scaling, and data shares to maximize performance and cost-efficiency. - ITAR Compliance:
Implement security controls (e.g., data encryption, access restrictions) to ensure strict adherence to ITAR regulations throughout the data lifecycle. - Performance Tuning:
Continuously monitor and fine-tune Snowflake queries and processes to improve system efficiency and throughput. - Data Validation:
Validate data rules implemented by the development team, ensuring business and compliance logic is accurately enforced. - Collaboration:
Work closely with cross-functional teams data scientists, business analysts, and IT stakeholders to define data requirements and deliver compliant, enterprise-grade data solutions. - Documentation:
Create and maintain detailed documentation for data models, ETL logic, compliance practices, and operational runbooks. - Troubleshooting & Support:
Identify, investigate, and resolve data issues. Provide timely support for business-critical ad hoc data requests. - Continuous Improvement:
Stay current with Snowflake updates and industry best practices. Propose and implement infrastructure and process improvements. - Team Coordination:
Collaborate with offshore and onsite peers. Must be flexible in scheduling to meet project deadlines and critical delivery timelines.
Required Qualifications:
- Expertise in Snowflake:
- Strong SQL programming and optimization skills
- Experience with advanced Snowflake features: materialized views, clustering, clones, resource monitors
- Hands-on development of ETL pipelines using IICS
- Data Governance & Compliance:
Familiarity with ITAR compliance, including data handling, classification, and access control - Tools & Technologies:
Python, GitHub, Control-M or Redwood for orchestration - Certifications:
Snowflake certifications (e.g., SnowPro Core, SnowPro Advanced Architect) are a plus - Soft Skills:
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work both independently and as part of a distributed team.
Nice to Have:
- Experience in defense, aerospace, or government projects
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) used alongside Snowflake
- Familiarity with data cataloging tools and data quality platforms
Salary : $55 - $60
