The Upholstery Technician is responsible for supporting all aspects of manufacturing processes by implementing process improvement, equipment setup, testing, documentation, and assisting with new product development and launch.
Responsibilities
- Work with fabric, vinyl and leather hides, composites, and other materials using specified adhesives, sewing equipment, hardware, hand tools, and various power tools
- Assemble, install, perform tests and inspections as part of the development effort
- Work closely with peers and leadership to effectively troubleshoot design and process issues
- Participate in continuous operational improvements
- Create and maintain all standard product manuals
- Responsible for verification of documentation required to perform tasks is accurate
- Conduct initial new product production training
- Ensure strict adherence to safety guidelines and company standards
Qualifications & Skills
- High School Diploma / GED, two to five years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Proficient in computer system
- Ability to support the team across a wide range of tasks
- Hands-on work, careful and detailed-oriented
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Must be available to work overtime if required
- Read and interpret drawings
Physical Demands
- Mobility necessary to perform a variety of tasks that involve standing, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, bending, and twisting, possibly reaching chest high and overhead for materials
- Ability to lift/move/pull 10-50lbs occasionally throughout the day
- Ability to hear adequately on the phone or in person and in group settings
- Vision: Required to have close visual acuity, color vision, and depth perception
- Use of hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate standard tools and equipment
·Must be able to stand and or walk (90% of the day) and consistently reach, bend, and move inside the facility to move product
