Job Overview: We are seeking a talented and innovative Propulsion Engineer for one of our clients in Torrance. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, testing, and improving propulsion systems used in aerospace. The successful candidate will apply engineering principles to develop cutting-edge propulsion technologies that ensure optimal performance, efficiency, and safety. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex engineering challenges and push the boundaries of what’s possible.
Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and analyze propulsion systems, including engines, turbines, thrusters, and other related components.
• Conduct feasibility studies and simulations to evaluate propulsion system performance, efficiency, and safety.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including systems engineers, aerodynamicists, and manufacturing engineers, to ensure seamless integration of propulsion systems with the overall design.
• Perform testing of propulsion systems, including both laboratory and field testing, and analyze results to ensure compliance with performance specifications.
• Troubleshoot and provide solutions to propulsion system issues during design, manufacturing, and testing phases.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and environmental requirements.
• Develop and maintain detailed documentation of designs, test procedures, and reports.
• Optimize propulsion systems for performance, cost, and environmental impact, including fuel efficiency, emissions, and noise.
• Stay current on the latest advancements in propulsion technology and contribute innovative solutions to ongoing projects.
• Provide technical support and mentorship to junior engineers and other team members.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field (Master’s or PhD preferred).
• Proven experience (6 years) in propulsion engineering or a closely related field, preferably in aerospace.
• Proficiency with engineering design tools and simulation software (e.g., MATLAB, ANSYS, CATIA, SolidWorks).
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, combustion, and materials science as they apply to propulsion systems.
• Experience with testing and validation of propulsion systems.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
• Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements related to propulsion systems.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with advanced propulsion technologies, such as electric propulsion, hybrid systems, or rocket propulsion.
• Familiarity with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and multi-disciplinary optimization techniques.
• Experience with propulsion system integration and systems engineering.
