This position is remote unless required in office. Office locations include : New York, Boston, Washington, DC, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Denver, Seattle.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the Network Operations team that is responsible for installation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of all servers, storage, and data centers firm-wide. The Network Operations team is also responsible for maintaining services and applications such as monitoring, backups, replication, patching and many other services.
What You'll Do :
- Manage the team that will :
- Install, configure, and maintain all Firm servers including the hardware and virtualization layers
- Manage multiple data centers, including local office MDF\IDF's
- Manage office moves, expansions and openings from a infrastructure perspective.
- Manage the VMWare virtualization environment, NetApp storage
- Manage backups, Business Continuity, and Disaster Recovery (BC / DR) systems
- Manage IS staff within the team, including hiring, training, evaluation, guidance, discipline and discharge, in conjunction with CN HR
- Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards and support the Firm's directive of IS Service Management (including but not limited to incident and change management)
- Provide mentoring and guidance for professional development to IS staff to meet the changing needs of the Firm
- Develop standard operating procedures and best practices, including providing written processes and guidance to IS staff
- Work closely with the Network Architecture & Engineering and Communications teams
- Provide expertise and engineering support and guidance, as needed (on a daily basis)
- Oversee systems work, including but not limited to, development, enhancement and upgrades
- Communicate regularly with executive management and all users of information services and systems
- Ensure the creation and maintenance of all written documentation, including system manuals and documentation of modifications and upgrades
- Keep current with the latest technologies and determine what new technology solutions and implementations will meet business and system requirements
- Assist in the development and implementation of IS policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, and others
- Complete projects by coordinating resources and timetables and works appropriately with the project management team
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; review professional publications; establish personal networks; benchmark state-of-the-art practices; participate in professional societies
- Assist with defining systems requirements (hardware and software) for incoming and proposed new systems
- Interface with vendors and manufacturers and advise upper management on status and quality of large-scale service and support contracts and whether they should be modified
- Required to carry "smartphone" capable of phone, email, SMS, and other communications means
- Operate within firm policies and guidelines and contribute to the Information Security group
- Oversee and manage problems from start to finish in all aforementioned areas and is subject to demands caused by deadlines, downtimes and heavy workloads. Make recommendations as needed for upgrades, systems configuration changes and implementation of new solutions
