Maintenance Operations Lead

About the Job:

This Production Equipment Maintenance Lead role involves overseeing the safe maintenance, repair, or replacement of production equipment and systems. The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of maintenance management experience, particularly in manufacturing or food production environments.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Direct and coordinate activities related to production equipment and general plant equipment maintenance and new installations.
• Ensure assigned facilities and equipment are ready for regular business and special events.
• Operate, inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, service, and maintain equipment according to technical manuals, wiring and hydraulic diagrams, and spare parts manuals.
• Perform major repair work, such as removal and replacement of components.
• Participate in objective setting, plan development, and performance review of production equipment and systems.
• Modify and repair existing equipment for safety and/or performance improvement, as needed.
• Identify vendors and solicit quotes for equipment repair or fabrication services that cannot be done with in-house talent.
• Establish routine inspections of equipment, delegate and manage workflows and tasks.
• Initiate, implement, and manage the production equipment preventive maintenance (PM) program based on best practices as defined within the BRC protocols to ensure uninterrupted operations of the plant.
• Monitor the use and inventories of spare parts and maintenance supplies for production equipment and shop. Initiate sourcing and ordering as needed.
• Supervise production equipment maintenance personnel.
• Ensure that production equipment personnel are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated so that the repair and maintenance work can be accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner, in compliance with BRC standards.
• Assist with the hiring of production equipment maintenance personnel.
• Assist with production equipment maintenance personnel performance reviews.
• Maintain and repair maintenance equipment.
• Maintain and update operation and training manuals for production equipment.
• Work with Production, QA, and Sanitation personnel to develop SSOP's for new production equipment as well as older equipment that does not have an SSOP.
• Monitor operation of production equipment, including but not limited to dough room mixers, fillo machines, depositor systems, ink jet systems, packaging equipment, ovens (all types), conveyors, fryers, skillets, stoves, etc.
• Coordinate with Plant Engineer and Facilities Manager for power, plumbing, and other support services as they relate to new production equipment installation.
• Coordinate with Plant Manager, Plant Engineer, and Facility Manager on planning and prioritization of tasks that could impact production.
• Responsible for Lock out/Tag out program execution, either personally or through delegation.
• Submit supporting paperwork to CEO/CFO to support purchases and expenses.
• Ensure City, County, State, and Federal regulations relating to the production equipment maintenance department are met at all times.
• Maintain files of warranties, records, licenses, inspections, service agreements, and contracts for various pieces of equipment/assets, inventory, and storage of all items.
• Ability to train and develop junior technicians on each respective area and track their progress.
• Manage and delegate work orders to increase productivity and efficiencies.
