What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Assistant position at Sourdough Fuel?
Under the general direction of the PSI/Sourdough Fuel Maintenance Lead, The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for supporting the maintenance team in the upkeep and repair of equipment, machinery, and facilities. This includes assisting with routine maintenance tasks, performing basic repairs, ensuring the cleanliness and safety of work areas, and helping maintain the overall functionality of the organization’s assets.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (and other duties as assigned)
- Assist with repairing and servicing equipment and vehicles used in operations.
- Assist the Lead Maintenance Tech with Maintenance needed at the Bulk Plant, TPI, and SDF Retail Stations.
- Assist Mechanics when needed to perform maintenance on trucks or buildings.
- Performs Carrier Compliance Checks on trucks loading at the TPI truck rack.
- Maintain cleanliness of building floors by sweeping, mopping (using floor Zamboni in the shop), scrubbing, and vacuuming around equipment.
- Shovel snow, put down ice melt, and other duties to ensure travel paths for customers and employees are safe and navigable before and after work.
- Pick up and dispose of trash. Collect and empty trash containers.
- Mow lawns, clean up vegetation and landscape areas using various hand and gardening tools such as weed-whacker, lawn mower and trimmer.
- Clean & sweep parking lot areas as needed.
- Wash delivery vehicles to maintain a clean and professional appearance.
- Dispose of waste oil, antifreeze, and other fluids in compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Perform any additional tasks that contribute to the overall safety, cleanliness, and professional appearance of the facility, equipment, and grounds.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Computer experience in the Microsoft office suite preferred.
- Valid Alaska driver’s license required.
- Will be required to complete Hazwoper and other company required training.
- Previous maintenance & yard work experience preferred.
- A general knowledge on the use of a variety of hand/power tools and light equipment, to perform work duties.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees or customers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The work environment is in a busy shop setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be often exposed to outside weather conditions and may be required to travel in small and large commercial aircraft.
