What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher, Japanese Immersion (25-26) position at South Academy of Int'l Languages?
Responsibilities:
- Implement a comprehensive Japanese language immersion curriculum for elementary students aligned with North Carolina Curriculum standards.
- Deliver engaging, student-centered lessons across core subjects, focusing on language acquisition.
- Create a classroom environment that captures the culture and language, both orally and in print.
- Assess student progress and design interventions to support continuous academic growth toward grade-level expectations.
- Develop specialized instructional materials in Japanese to support the NC SCOS, using visual aids, real objects, and manipulative materials.
- Engage with parents to foster support for students’ progress in the language immersion program.
- Collaborate with colleagues teaching other target languages (French, Chinese, German) and with Japanese immersion teachers to ensure a cohesive educational experience.
- Participate in various school meetings, including staff meetings and PTSO meetings.
- Track student academic progress, creating assessments such as tests, quizzes, and projects.
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the needs of students with varying learning styles and abilities.
- Establish and enforce classroom rules and create a respectful, inclusive environment.
- Communicate regularly with parents about student progress.
