Job Summary:

This is a full-time, professional staff position. The Director of Student Life and Housing oversees all aspects of student housing and residential life, including housing-related student concerns. The Director of Student Life and Housing plans, coordinates, implements, and oversees a comprehensive student life program for the college, including but not limited to housing, student clubs and organizations, and student activities. The role involves managing the Residence Life and Student Activities programs efficiently while supporting the College’s educational mission. The director is also responsible for ensuring fair and consistent enforcement of student life policies, fostering a campus environment that promotes learning and personal growth. The position will report to the Provost. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Salary/Exemption Status: Salary range of $48,000-$50,000 to commensurate with education and experience. Plus, excellent benefit package. This is an exempt position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Maintain a safe, secure, healthy, and positive living environment that enhances student development and learning.

· Oversee the community, programming, and initiatives within the residence halls.

· Coordinate room changes and the room selection process.

· Ensure safe, clean, well-maintained housing services are provided to students; determine student satisfaction with housing accommodations; and develop strategies to asses and improve satisfaction.

· Write, review, and interpret the Residence Life Handbook and housing contracts and policies.

· Provide fiscal management for Residence Life budget.

· Select, train, lead, and supervise residence life staff.

· Provide direction, oversight, and professional development for the live-in Residence Director.

· Provides supervision and training for the RAs throughout the year, leads RA staff meetings, and conducts bi-monthly mentor meetings with the RAs.

· Prepare and submit occupancy and other reports as needed.

· Enforce residence hall rules and regulations; review and investigate reports of student misconduct; initiate disciplinary action as warranted; mediate student conflicts and assist in developing processes for problem/conflict resolution.

· Ensure compliance with relevant policies, procedures, professional standards, laws and national trends as applicable.

· Evaluate and assess College housing occupancy, retention, and projection trends.

· Is responsible for crisis response, risk management and serves in the “on call” rotation with other staff.

· Provide direction for Student Life programs, events, and initiatives.

· Coordinate and facilitate the following events/initiatives: Welcome Weekend (Orientation for residents), Housing Selection, RA Selection, pre-campus communication with incoming students.

· Supervise Student Activities staff and oversee programming.

· Provide leadership and guidance for student clubs and student organizations including but not limited to creating and conducting training for student clubs/organizations advisors and student leaders

· Serve on various committees across campus.

· Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, or closely related field; minimum three years of progressive experience in Residence Life and/or Student Activities.

Preferred Education and Experience:

Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, or closely related field; five years progressive experience in Residence Life supervision and management of a comprehensive campus housing operation in a small school setting.

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes some evening, weekend, and “on call” situations.

· Frequent sitting at a desk.

· Occasional lifting, standing, walking, bending, etc.
