Job Summary :
- This Instructor is responsible for the instruction EMT classes. This position will also maintain professionalism within their specialized field, including currency and required certifications. Other major responsibilities include, but are not limited to, participating in department and college-wide meetings. This person will work under the supervision of the EMS Program Director regarding instructional duties.

- Essential function
- Provide instruction through in-person and distance education formats.
- Complete master and course syllabi for assigned courses.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills and ability to integrate new technology in instruction and skill lab settings.
- Assists EMS program director and may coordinate skills lab and scheduling as requested.
- Assist with completing, organizing, and maintaining documentation of the evaluation of students' clinical performance progression. Assist with oversight of students' progression in clinical experiences.
- Retain and remediate students, as appropriate, for student completion of EMT classes.
- Ability to work with diverse populations through the lens of diversity, inclusion, equity, justice, and cultural humility.
- Ensures program compliance with Arkansas Department of Health, Section of EMS & Trauma Systems Rules & Regulations, and the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician certification in National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician testing.
- Interface and work with program and institution faculty and staff.
- Assist and work with EMS and SouthArk faculty as needed or directed.
- Interface and work with community and clinical partners.
- All other tasks as requested by the program director and division dean.

- Manipulate, operate, and maintain typical equipment used in EMS.
- Communicate verbally and in written methods with an interdisciplinary healthcare team, administrators, patient, and care partners.
- Abilities
- Executive functioning skills needed to identify, analyze, and complete complex learning and EMS related situations.
- Teach others with various learning styles and instructional needs.
- Must be a licensed EMS instructor.
- Minimum two years experience in emergency medical services.
- Current, active, and unencumbered state license and national registration as an EMT.
- Possess knowledge of the curriculum and about the program's evaluation of student learning and performance.
- Associate degree in paramedic from an accredited institution of higher education recognized by the U. S. Department of Education.
- Must be a licensed EMS instructor.
- Three years experience in emergency medical services as a paramedic.
- Current, active, and unencumbered state license and national registration as a paramedic.
- Possess knowledge of the curriculum and about the program's evaluation of student learning and performance.
- Stand and sit for long periods of time.

Current EMT theoretical and practical professional information.
Basic computer skills needed to use a learning management system and Microsoft Suite products.
Perform multiple tasks within a classroom, laboratory, clinical practicum site, ambulance, and other typical emergency medicine spaces within one work shift as well as over a long-term period of time.
