Job Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Vice President of Finance and Administration, the Financial Accountant II is responsible for accounts receivable, including student billing and grant accounting operations. This position has responsibility to assure accuracy of and in-depth understanding and knowledge of all receivable operations. The ideal candidate should have strong technical accounting expertise, an understanding of higher education financial accounting billing and receivables as well as grant accounting. A successful candidate must show commitment to excellence in supporting the institution's financial health. This position is governed by state and federal laws and institution policy.
Salary/Exemption Status: This is an exempt position with an annual salary of $45,000. Plus, excellent benefit package.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Duties and Responsibilities:
· Responsible for accuracy, monitoring and in-depth knowledge of all account receivable accounts with general ledger accounts, including student financial billing systems, student accounts and refunds
· Responsible for accurate federal, state and local grants including reconciliation, reimbursements and and reporting
· Oversee student payment processing including payment plans
· Prepare various journal entries related to grants and other responsibilities
· Review student charges/refunds in Jenzabar for each semester prior to registration.
· Communicate and work with students with questions and inquiries as needed within department
· Assist college personnel and students with inquires, questions, etc.
· Interpret laws, regulations, and grant procedures as it relates to the department and work with grant administrators or other outside entities to provide financial reports and reconciliations
· Daily bank verification and deposits
· Reconciliations of other billing accounts, such as student inclusive access against vendor invoices
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities:
· Strong knowledge of financial accounting and financial reporting standards in higher education.
· Extensive experience in Microsoft Excel and other financial reporting software systems.
· Excellent accounting skills with the ability to apply GAAP to complex transactions as well as apply GASB regulations and standards.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the capacity to communicate financial information clearly.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
· Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Required Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Preferred Education and Experience:
· Experience in financial accounting within a higher education environment is highly preferred.
· Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience
· Jenzabar experience a plus.
Physical Requirements:
The position requires the ability to seat and look at computer screens for extended periods of time. The position will require extended periods of sitting. The individual should have the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
