Description
Job Summary
Material Handlers perform a wide range of production tasks and procedures on a daily basis. This position is responsible for numerous production related duties that include but are not limited to: moving and organizing materials, following production schedules, and prepping,
galvanizing and finishing materials. This position will work closely with the Production Supervisor(s) to ensure an organized and efficient flow of materials through the plant while meeting established daily, weekly, monthly and yearly goals.
Education and Experience
- High School diploma, GED equivalent minimum or equivalent job training and experience
- 1 years previous experience in a warehouse or manufacturing setting preferred
Summary of essential job functions
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Hanging and prepping materials for the galvanizing process in a safe and organized manner
- Operating overhead cranes and/or forklifts as necessary
- Following company production and safety procedures
- Cleaning, packaging and finishing materials after the galvanizing process is complete
- Tracking all materials that are on site, both company stock and customer materials
- Keeping the yard and materials neat and organized
- Completing all other reasonable tasks assigned by the Supervisor or the General Manager
- Communicating with the General Manager, and Supervisor(s) as necessary
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to communicate effectively both written and orally is mandatory
- Must possess problem solving and communication skills
- Must be team oriented, motivated and dependable
- Ability to work 10 hour shifts, or until the job is complete, outside in all weather conditions
- Ability to multitask and stay focused in a fast paced work environment
- Ability to occasionally move / lift items weighing up to 100 lbs.
