Responsibilities:
1. Patient Care:
- Greet patients, escort them to examination rooms, and prepare them for medical procedures and exams.
- Obtain and record patients' vital signs, medical history, and other relevant information.
- Assist healthcare professionals during patient examinations, treatments, and minor procedures.
- Administer medications and vaccines under the direction and supervision of healthcare providers.
- Provide patient education and instructions regarding medications, procedures, and general health.
2. Administrative Support:
- Schedule patient appointments, and follow-up visits, coordinating with other employees as needed.
- Manage medical records, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with billing and coding procedures, including insurance verification and claims submission.
- Maintain inventory of medical supplies and equipment, restocking as necessary.
- Coordinate referrals to other healthcare providers or specialists as required.
- Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and direct messages to the appropriate staff members.
3. Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Adhere to established protocols, policies, and procedures to ensure quality patient care.
- Maintain infection control standards and ensure a clean and safe environment.
- Follow up on patient test results and communicate them to healthcare providers and patients as directed.
- Assist with maintaining and updating electronic health records (EHR) accurately and efficiently.
4. Collaboration and Teamwork:
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and continuing education programs to enhance knowledge and skills.
- Contribute to a positive work environment, demonstrating professionalism, respect, and teamwork.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a medical assistant program preferred.
- Certification or registration as a Medical Assistant is a plus.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and basic medical procedures.
- Proficiency in performing clinical tasks, such as taking vital signs, administering injections, and conducting laboratory tests.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical billing software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, colleagues, and healthcare providers.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize duties in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
