South Bend Medical Foundation, a trusted leader in Pathology and Blood services, is seeking an Assistant Controller. The Assistant Controller will work collaboratively with the Controller to accurately maintain financial records, ensure compliance with accounting standards, and support the organization’s financial planning and reporting processes. This role plays a key part in the department month-end and year-end close processes, tax filings, and financial audits, while also contributing to budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial initiatives. This person will also lead the department in the transition to a new ERP system scheduled for 2025.
Successful candidate should possess:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5 years’ experience in a similar capacity with 2-4 years of experience in a CPA firm preferred.
- CPA or actively pursuing certification a plus.
- Experience in, or strong knowledge of, not-for-profit healthcare accounting is helpful
- Hands-on experience in preparing financial reports, analyzing financial data, maintaining general ledger and ensuring compliance with accounting standards is necessary.
- Leadership experience is preferred.
Technical Skills:
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with accounting software including NetSuite a plus
- Familiarity with GAAP accounting principles

- Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
