What are the responsibilities and job description for the MT/MLT (Evenings) Blood Bank Services position at South Bend Medical Foundation?
We have a very exciting opportunity for a full time MT or MLT in our Blood Bank Services Department!
This full time, hourly position is primarily 2:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. Monday-Friday with weekend and holiday rotation, approx. 40 hours per week.
Performs moderate & high complexity testing on blood, body fluids, and other body specimens to obtain data for use in diagnosis & treatment of disease as assigned & qualified by CLIA requirements.
Performs lab support services as assigned: sample collection, processing, patient registration, order entry, billing, inventory control, reagent preparation, maintenance, and cleaning procedures.
Reviews results for accuracy and clinical correlation prior to reporting. Recognizes and investigates abnormal results following established protocols and using designated technical resources.
Follows quality control procedures. Analyzes QC data & takes action to ensure the accuracy of testing following established protocols using designated technical resources.
Completes initial training as assigned & maintains and documents competency for pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of testing.
Maintains patient confidentiality.
Option 1: Medical Technologist (MT)
Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or in a chemical, physical or biological science and successful completion of a NAACLS-accredited Medical Laboratory Scientist program.
Option 2: Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)
Associate degree in Medical Technology or in a chemical, physical or biological science and successful completion of a NAACLS or ABHES -accredited MLT program.
