From sandy beaches and salt marshes to freshwater swamps and farmland, the Coastal Conservation League is working to respond to rapid growth and development, as well as impacts from a changing climate on the South Carolina coastal plain. We work from our headquarters in Charleston, our legislative office in Columbia, our South Coast office in Beaufort, which covers Beaufort, Jasper, Colleton, and Hampton counties, our North Coast office, which works across Georgetown, Horry, Marion, Williamsburg, and Florence counties, and our food hub, GrowFood Carolina, in Charleston. Our team of professionals works across the coastal plain to promote clean energy, protect land, water and wildlife, build strong cities and towns, and support local food and farmers to build healthy, resilient communities.

GrowFood Carolina is the local non-profit food hub that was established in 2011 by the Coastal Conservation League. Our organization works with nearly 100 local producer partners to supply fresh local produce, cheese, and grain products, among other similar items, to restaurants, grocery stores and other institutions based in Charleston, Savannah, Columbia, and Greenville SC. GrowFood has annual sales of approximately $2 million and is able to return approximately 80% of this amount back to the growers.
Job Summary :
The Driver and Warehouse Associate is responsible for daily deliveries to surrounding areas on a regular basis. Other additional cities and routes may be included as needed. The Delivery driver will be responsible for transporting fresh fruits and vegetables to vendors in a safe and timely manner. All transport routes are one day turnaround with a typical schedule of Monday-Friday 5 : 30am 1 : 30pm or 7 : 00am - 2 : 00pm.
Total Work Hours : 8-16 hours per week.
Essential Functions :
- Timely and accurate delivery of all foods to all locations.
- Provide positive interface with all customers for deliveries.
- Verifies accuracy of orders / deliveries and communicates any variances to team members; quickly resolves any potential conflicts.
- Loads and unloads trucks.
- Safely operate company vehicle and obey all traffic laws.
- Evaluate traffic patterns, alternative routes, and weather conditions as needed.
- Demonstrates an understanding of products, acceptable quality, and customer expectations.
- Regularly assists with counting and reconciling product inventory.
- Pulls and packs daily orders for delivery.
- Supports team initiatives by assembling produce boxes to specification and need.
- Works closely with other team members on tasks, as required.
- Responsible for direct accounts receivable collection from deliveries.
- Responsible for all receipts and documentation related to credit card expenditures.

Work Environment
While driving the delivery truck, operator is in a climate-controlled environment; when working in the warehouse and customer sites, work environment is non-climate controlled and potentially exposed to outside elements.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, and climb stairs. The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 pounds. Employee must be able to get in and out of vehicle and walk in and out of refrigerators and freezers throughout shift.
Travel
Daily travel is required with 1 day turn around and may include occasional overnight travel.
