Job Responsibilities:
Supervises nursing personnel within assigned area to include planning, organizing, implementing evaluating, and delegating nursing care. Acts as a nursing advisor to the department/area administrators and staff members of other disciplines serving consumers within the facility. Collaborates with other nursing services administrative team members. Ensures nursing care is delivered according to accepted standards of nursing practice. Assists Director of Nursing (DON) to facilitate quality nursing care.
- Supervises and mentors nursing staff on assigned shift so that the mission, goals, philosophy, and functions of the nursing department are supported and can be achieved. Provides direct oversight to Registered Nurses (RN) on assigned shifts who in turn, provides direct oversight to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) in their assigned area. Evaluates subordinate nursing staff and serves as a reviewer for evaluation. In consultation with Human Resources, follows proper procedures for conducting disciplinary action as needed.
- Ensures nursing schedule and coverage is maintained at all times to ensure target staffing levels are met. Conducts interviews and makes recommendations for nursing vacancies. Ensures all time and/or leave is approved timely for subordinate nursing staff.
- As a member of the nursing administration team, provides active leadership in ensuring compliance with Federal and State regulations, SCDDSN policies and procedures, and accepted nursing standards of care and practice.
- Stays abreast of new nursing trends and/or research with possible application towards improving the health care of individuals. Provides for and participates in educational enrichment programs so that personnel are up to date with new concepts and approaches in the delivery of services to individuals.
- Performs and participates in activities used to build morale as otherwise assigned by Director of Nursing.
The salary range for this position is $85,000 to $93,823 and will be based on verified work-related nursing experience as indicated on the candidate’s application. This position is eligible for up to $6.25/hour shift differential for applicable shifts!

Minimum and Additional Requirements
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and related nursing experience. Licensure as a Registered Nurse by the State Board of Nursing for South Carolina.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of the principles, practices, theories and techniques of nursing. Knowledge of teaching methods applicable to nursing. Knowledge of principles and practices of nursing administration in a healthcare facility. Knowledge of certification requirements and standards for healthcare facilities. Knowledge of medical terminology. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to plan, organize, supervise, direct and evaluate the work of other employees. Ability to establish and maintain the confidence and cooperation of individuals and families. Ability to follow detailed instructions of a technical and professional nature. Ability to develop and implement therapeutic nursing programs. General knowledge of individuals with intellectual disabilities. Ability to work in a group home like setting or ICF. Physical ability to work with individuals who may be physically aggressive or medically fragile.
