About Coastal Regional Center
Coastal Regional Center is a residential facility of the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs located in Summerville, SC serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Under the general guidelines of a direct supervision, must be able to provide guidance to direct care staff on a daily basis with regards to the safety and care of SCDDSN consumers. Must possess independent decision making and problem-solving skills as they relate to implementing programs, job task, providing active treatment and vocational training in various areas of the Day Program Department. Must be able to follow agency policy and procedures. Must have the ability to supervise subordinate employees.
- Implements services for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities in a group setting to include leisure, vocational, pre-vocational, and daily living skills.
- Completes assessments, implements programs based on assessed needs.
- Completes all documentation to include but not limited to data on objectives, attendance reports, individual and weekly payroll reports.
- Provides training in self-help skills to consumers and serve as coverage staff in the residential units.
- Offer guidance to Direct Support Professionals in the care, and training of individuals with intellectual disabilities and special needs.
- Ensures health, safety and accountability of individuals with disabilities.
- Adheres to SCDDSN written rules, regulations, and policies.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.

Minimum and Additional Requirements
A high school diploma and related experience. A bachelor’s degree may substitute for the required experience.

Knowledge of individual and group behavioral traits. Knowledge of state and federal laws, rules and regulations related to the area of responsibility. Knowledge of casework interviewing techniques. Knowledge of principles of human growth and behavior. Knowledge of interpersonal dynamics and personality principles. Ability to counsel with clients. Ability to plan and organize effective training activities. Ability to analyze data and organize information. Ability to observe and interpret behavior. Ability to communicate effectively.

State Disaster Plan: In accordance with the State's Disaster Plan, which includes hazardous weather, DDSN employees may be required to work in times of an emergency or disaster.
