Job Responsibilities
The SC Department of Agriculture has a
SUMMER INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY
available within our Wholesale Food Safety Department for students seeking a degree in agriculture, science or a similar field.
Food Safety Administration: C ampus of the State Farmers Market in West Columbia.
As part of this internship, you will learn the regulatory intricacies of food safety and compliance, to include food labeling laws, assisting with label reviews, processing registration applications, corresponding with prospective food manufacturers and businesses and gathering documents for grant audits. You will also have the opportunity to job shadow food safety officers on inspections in the field.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
Must be a rising sophomore, junior or senior or attending graduate school for the 2025-2026 academic year.
Preferred Qualifications
Housing is the responsibility of selected candidate and no stipend is provided.

- Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Publisher, MS Power Point and Outlook email and Outlook calendar.
- Strong writing, proofreading, and editing skills.
