SUMMER INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY
available within our Finance and Administration Department for students seeking a degree in
accounting, finance, marketing, business or similar fields.
Finance and Administration Department Intern - Statehouse grounds in downtown Columbia.
Responsibilities
As a Finance and Administrative intern, you will learn the many ways that the South Carolina Department of Agriculture (SCDA) operates and ensures the citizens of South Carolina are represented while receiving the best possible assistance on a daily basis. Serving as the Finance and Administration Intern , some of your responsibilities will include:
NOTE: This internship is based on the Statehouse Grounds in downtown Columbia, SC. This is not a remote internship.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
Must be a rising sophomore, junior or senior or attending graduate school for the 2025-2026 academic year.

Responsibilities

Serving as the Finance and Administration Intern , some of your responsibilities will include:
- Administrative tasks and projects.
- Conducting office supply inventory and completing orders of requested items.
- Assist with Agency Asset Audit.
- Assist Procurement Manager with branded apparel orders and distribution.
- Assist with balancing financial card statements.
- Researching and coding expenses to proper general ledger accounts.
NOTE: This internship is based on the Statehouse Grounds in downtown Columbia, SC. This is not a remote internship.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
Must be a rising sophomore, junior or senior or attending graduate school for the 2025-2026 academic year.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Publisher, MS Power Point and Outlook email and Outlook calendar.
- Strong writing, proofreading, and editing skills.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Housing is the responsibility of selected candidate and no stipend is provided.
- State surface level parking is available daily on a first come, first serve basis. If all spaces are otherwise taken for the day, the intern is responsible for all costs associated with parking (meters).
