Under general supervision,
- Performs duties in the repair/maintenance of vehicles, heavy trucks, heavy equipment, and buses belonging to the agency and other city, county, and state agencies.
- Inspects gasoline and diesel powered vehicles, heavy truck, heavy equipment. and buses.
- Performs expert level repair/maintenance on vehicles, heavy trucks, heavy equipment, and buses.
- Makes inspections to ensure quality of work performed and corrects any problems.
- Assists in maintaining parts and inventory system to ensure accountability and compliance with agency policies.
- Ensures a systematic check for a continuous preventive maintenance program.
- Supervises inmate workers and provides training in the proper diagnostics and repair procedures while ensuring the security of the maintenance facility.
- Provides field repairs and on-call emergency 24-hour recovery services as needed.
- Uses electronic diagnostic equipment to determine mechanical problems.
