Who We are Looking For:
We are seeking an attorney with broad experience to serve as a Senior Litigation Attorney within the SCDC Legal Department. You must have at least 8+ years as a litigation practicing attorney.
Job Responsibilities Based on Your Experience:
Provide advice, conduct legal research, develop case strategies, and manage complex litigation from the initial claim stage through final resolution.
Represent the Company in various litigation matters, including court hearings, settlement negotiations, post-trial, and other proceedings. Your work will include directly handling (or supervising the work of outside counsel) preparing and responding to discovery, taking depositions, conducting investigations, and drafting pleadings, motions, and trial and appellate briefs.
Conduct thorough legal research to support case preparation and strategy development.
Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents, contracts, and agreements.
Represent clients in court proceedings and during negotiations with opposing parties.
Provide legal advice and guidance on matters related to estate planning, immigration law, environmental law, personal injury law, and family law.
Prepare and file necessary legal documents with courts and government agencies.
Maintain accurate records of case progress and client communications.
Collaborate with other attorneys and staff within the law office to ensure comprehensive client service.
Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations that may affect clients' cases.
Minimum Requirements:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.
The ideal candidate has practiced law and litigation in Texas, particularly in Houston for at least 3+ years.
Admission to the Texas Bar in good standing.
Minimum of 8+ years of experience as a Litigation attorney
Experience in Small Claims Court in Harris County a must.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication skills, and a proven record of accomplishment in delivering high-quality work in relevant and verifiable legal work.
Additional Details:
The salary range is between $130,000 and $182,000.
Full Time Benefits: After completion of a 1 month probationary period, you will be eligible for full-time company benefits.
This position is in Downtown Houston, Texas 77002.
This is an on-site role. We do not offer remote or hybrid working opportunities.
The ideal candidate must be available to start within one to two weeks of acceptance date.
