Job Description
Our Workforce Specialist serves within the Employment Services (ES) division. ES programs improve the functioning of the labor market by bringing together individuals who are seeking employment and employers who are seeking workers. The SC Works system provides jobseekers with career guidance, job referrals, assessments, and résumé assistance. Free tools to assist employers include posting job openings, recruiting and screening candidates, and reviewing job market trends. South Carolina’s 12 local workforce development boards administer the SC Works Centers throughout the state.
The Workforce Specialist reports to the Workforce Development Division in the Trident Region. This role delivers a broad range of services to assist individuals in resolving barriers to employment and increasing skills to obtain or maintain employment. This position requires travel to the following counties: Charleston, Dorchester and Berkeley.

Minimum And Additional Requirements
Education and Experience
A high school diploma with a minimum of four years of experience in customer service, recruitment, selection, interviewing, counseling, case management or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with at least three years of experience in customer service, recruitment, selection, interviewing, counseling, case management or a related field.

Key Responsibilities
- Educate individuals on DEW programs, policies, and services, assist with all services within the SC Works Center, and perform resource room activities and outreach.
- Ensure timely, professional, and attentive customer service.
- Collaborate with co-workers, management, and partner staff for scheduling activities.
- Refer qualified applicants to jobs posted through SC Works.
- Work directly with Business Consultants to match customers and clients to position openings.
- Develop relationships with community resources for seamless referrals.
- Promote SC Works services through community and center workshops and activities.
- Provide ongoing support to SC Works Centers and all Workforce programs.
