Job Purpose
This position will serve as the Handle with Care (HWC) Coordinator for the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice. The coordinator will be responsible for the regional coordination of and the operational success of the HWC program within the Pee Dee region. Under the supervision of the Prevention and Intervention Director, this position will support the implementation, quality control, and evaluation of the HWC program within the Pee Dee region. The position requires close coordination with law enforcement, school boards, school staff, mental health professionals, social services agencies, and other systemic and community resource providers at both the state and local levels. The coordinator will collaborate with the statewide HWC Team to expand and maintain the HWC Program across the Pee Dee.
This position is an in-office position located in Richland County. The coordinator must be able to travel for in-person meetings in the Pee Dee Region and across the state as necessary.
Job Responsibilities
Coordinate the implementation of the HWC program across the Pee Dee region, ensuring alignment with statewide goals and objectives.
Oversee the delivery of HWC services, including training, support, and resources to law enforcement, schools, and community partners.
Monitor program activities to ensure they meet established standards and deliver intended outcomes.
Serve as the primary point of contact for the HWC program in the Pee Dee region, liaising with law enforcement, school personnel, mental health professionals, social services agencies, and other stakeholders.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key partners to ensure effective collaboration and support for the HWC Program.
Represent the HWC program at regional meetings, conferences, and other events as needed.
Work with Deputy Director to negotiate agreements with stakeholders to ensure effective implementation.
Assist with the development and implementation processes for ongoing evaluation and improvement of the HWC program in the region.
Collect data and compile reports related to program performance and outcomes, providing regular updates to the statewide HWC Team.
Identify opportunities for program expansion and enhancement based on evaluation findings.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
STATE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A bachelor’s degree or higher with two years of relevant experience.
Additional Requirements
Knowledge of psychosocial practices related to coordinated and systematized care of youth.
Ability to communicate effectively with and establish good working relationships with multidisciplinary teams and community providers, including behavioral health organizations, law enforcement, first responders, and school personnel.
Be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and virtual data-management systems.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage complex, multifaceted projects that result in measurable successes and program growth.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and training skills.
Preferred Qualifications
PREFERRED AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:
A master’s degree in a social service field.
