Job Purpose
Under direct supervision of the Volunteer Services Manager, the Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the administrative functions related to the processing of volunteer applications and maintaining volunteer records. Supervises and facilitates trainings to keep agency volunteers informed and knowledgeable. Note: The term "volunteer" includes all levels of volunteerism and types of volunteers.
Job Responsibilities
Corresponds with and provides correct information to inquiries about volunteer services opportunities and/or the volunteer application and certifying process.
Responsible for the application processing phase of the volunteer application process.
Prints and distributes volunteer identification badges.
Maintains volunteer records and the volunteer database.
Responsible for the orientation phase of the volunteer application process.
Coordinates in-service trainings to enhance volunteers’ knowledge and skills.
Assists with the agency's volunteer recognition efforts.
Performs other assigned duties as required or directed to support the division or the agency.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
STATE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A high school diploma and relevant program experience.
Additional Requirements
Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities.
Proficient in the use of computer systems and various software to include but not limited to MS Office.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and exercise judgment and discretion.
Possess good verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of office management practices and ability to analyze data and present ideas effectively.
This position performs job duties relating to the custody, control, transportation, or recapture of youth within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice, and the employee may have direct and indirect contact with youth within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice. Training applicable to these duties will be provided.
Must be able to sit for prolonged periods, able to lift 10 lbs.
Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends is required.
Preferred Qualifications
PREFERRED AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:
A high school diploma and three (3) years of experience in a volunteer services environment or and environment promoting community engagement.
