Job Responsibilities
With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.
This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, McKinney-Community Residential Care Facility (CRCF) – 307 Miller Road, Mauldin, SC 29662.
As the Direct Support Professional II, working under general supervision of the Administrator, assists in the therapeutic care to residents of the Community Residential Care Facility (CRCF) operated by DMH CRCF Services. Assists and instructs residents in needs of daily living, i.e., cooking, cleaning, budget planning, etc. Assists treatment team in therapeutic and rehabilitative activities.
Responsibilities for this Direct Care Professional II include but are not limited to:
Associate degree and one year of experience in direct support of persons with intellectual or developmental disabilities; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
Additional Comments
In this position, you must have the ability to work in a residential facility and be able to work rotational shifts. A valid driver's license and ability to drive a state vehicle is required. Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in-writing.

Responsibilities for this Direct Care Professional II include but are not limited to:
- Provides direct care attention to residents and serves as a role model in order to assist residents with their development of skills necessary to transition successfully and function more independently. Observes and records resident’s behaviors. Documents residents' attendance and behavior in accordance with program requirements. Services will be in compliance with SCDMH, DHHS, DHEC, QA, and Corporate Compliance standards.
- Assists residents in medication administration and compliance.
- Assists and coordinates transportation of residents to medical appointments and ensures documentation of appointment is provided to CRCF. Assists and coordinates special activities and routine outing transportation.
- Performs cleaning duties to include but not limited to, sweeping/mopping, cleaning the kitchen and bathrooms, dusting, etc. Cooks' residents' meals.
