Job Responsibilities

This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, CMTNCC Roddey Pavilion, 2200 Harden Street, Columbia, SC 29203
As an Equipment Operator II, you will transport clients, staff and other authorized personnel locally and statewide to support the SCDMH mission.
Responsibilities Include But Not Limited To
State Minimum Requirement: Experience in the operation or maintenance of heavy equipment, motorized vehicles or machinery that is directly related to the area of employment.
Facility Minimum Requirement: Must have a valid South Carolina driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
Additional Comments
The selected candidate must have considerable knowledge of South Carolina traffic laws and regulations. The ability to read maps, written directions and safely operate a variety of vehicles. Must be able to sit, stand, squat, kneel and climb steps unassisted and able to lift 35lbs. Candidates must be able to work evenings, nights and weekends as needed. Employees in this position are considered essential personnel and must be willing to work holidays on rotation and on-call during periods of inclement weather.

- Transports clients, staff, authorized personnel and other items locally and statewide. Maintains daily vehicle utilization records.
- Maintains protection and accountability of all transported items using chain of custody forms and procedures.
- Performs and documents vehicle pre-trip/post-trip inspections. Complies with Vehicle Management established policies and procedures.
- Performs dispatch duties, process transportation requests and coordinates daily transportation requests.
