This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, Charleston-Dorchester Center, 2100 Charlie Hall Blvd, Charleston, SC 29414.

State Minimum Requirements:
A master’s degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or a related field.
Agency (Facility) Minimum Requirements
A Master’s or Doctorate degree from an accredited program, university, or college in psychology, social work, counseling, marriage and family counseling or other behavioral discipline deemed equivalent by SCDMH

Preferred Qualifications
Working knowledge of Mental Health legal principles and practices, of methods, principles and practices of clinical counseling and educational services; considerable knowledge of psychopathology and patient management in psychiatric setting; working knowledge of basic health and welfare services provided by other agencies ; ability to effectively plan, coordinate and manage complex treatment and to the ability to conduct detailed investigations, draw conclusions and recommend required actions.

Responsibilities for this Position Title include but are not limited to:
- Under general supervision, the mental health professional will provide pre-screening/assessment services, case management, psycho-educational and preventative mental health services and crisis management interventions for residents at Sherif Al Cannon Detention Center (SACDC).
- Provide quality person centered care as demonstrated by use of evidence base clinical interventions when conducting assessment services, follow up care and psycho-educational services.
- Performs functions of this position in an efficient manner as credentialed by the CDMHC/SACDC as evidence by the established productivity expectation of resident assessments and screenings and case management services.
- Demonstrates recognition of the importance of collaboration and teamwork within the SACDC, CDMHC and with community partners. Shares necessary and appropriate treatment information with other medical providers at the jail and other agencies working on behalf of the residents as appropriate.
