This position is in the Motor Carrier Services / Motor Carrier Processing Unit located at Headquarters, Blythewood, South Carolina.

Responsibilities Of The Motor Carrier Processing Specialist III

  • Prepares all weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports to include but not limited to IFTA, IRP, and UCR. Ensures all reports are accurate and distributed/uploaded in a timely manner.
  • Evaluates and processes MCS transaction for all programs (i.e., IRP, IFTA, UCR, etc.) interstate and intrastate CMV’S, including but not limited to title work, new IRP/IFTA accounts, reinstatements, IFTA tax returns and amendments. Ensures customer account is updated and accurate in the MCS system.
  • Supports all office related tasks related to daily processing of all MCS programs including call rotation for the Motor Carrier Services Information Center (MCIC) and special projects as requited. Reconciles inventory, completes end of day processes, prepares summary report of daily activities, and accounts for and balances revenue collect with transaction processed.
  • Retains accurate department records for state, federal, and program reporting; ensures carrier’s information is stored in the document management system.
  • Maintains professional growth and development to keep abreast of program administered through the MCS, MCS system, and state /federal laws/regulations.
  • Performs other duties as required by supervisor.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum and Additional Requirements

  • A high school diploma and relevant program experience. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required program experience. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be accepted with prior approval.

Additional Requirements

  • In depth knowledge of motor carrier laws and regulations and SCDMV policies and procedures.
  • Ability to interpret and apply rules and regulations.
  • Ability to exhibit initiative, sound judgment, and logical thinking.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to explain policy and procedures to motor carrier customers and maintain up-to-date knowledge of MCS Program areas.
  • Strong technical skills, knowledge of SCDMV Phoenix and MCS systems.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office products (i.e., Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook…), IRP, Inc., and IFTA, Inc.
  • Requires a high degree of self motivation, integrity, initiative and professionalism.
  • Must assure that the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) policies and operational procedures are followed.
  • Works independently with limited supervision.
  • Works in general office environment.
  • May be required to work extended hours outside of the normal scheduled work week.
  • Some overnight travel may be required.
  • Must be able to lift 10-15 lbs.
  • The work requires sitting for prolonged periods of time and significant time spent at a computer terminal.

  • A high school diploma and two (2) years relevant job experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and related experience
