Job Responsibilities
The Park Service manages and protects more than 90,000 acres of South Carolina's natural and cultural resources, which range from deep mountain wilderness and old-growth forests to plantation homes, battlefields, waterfronts, and wetlands. The state park system includes 48 operational parks and six historic properties. The system also includes more than 1,500 separate buildings, 155 cabins, 80 motel rooms, 3,000 campsites, two 18-hole golf courses, two saltwater fishing piers, 42 ponds, 156 miles of paved roads, and more than 300 miles of hiking and riding trails.
Job Purpose And Duties
Under general supervision of a regional chief. Performs advance duties related to facility and grounds maintenance activities in state parks.
High school diploma and four years related experience. Working knowledge of methods and techniques related to maintenance of grounds, buildings and related equipment. Ability to understand written instructions and be able to communicate both orally and in writing.

Actual Job Location: Lakes Region.
Full-time, 40 hours per week rotating schedule including weekends and holidays.

- Following established procedures and guidelines, coordinates maintenance activities related to facilities and grounds as directed by the Regional Chief.
- Directs the regional training of personnel as it relates to maintenance responsibilities.
- Ensures completion of Regional Chief directed projects.
- Maintains records related to expenditures on individual projects and equipment use.
- Performs duties related to material management with coordination through the Regional Chief.
- Develops plan of action for parks reduced maintenance expenditures.
- Provides leadership for creation of park signage and continued training.
- Practice and promote teamwork within the work unit/office, throughout the agency and with external agency stakeholders. Represents office as an active member on agency teams assigned throughout the year.

Additional Requirements
- Ability to obtain electrical and plumbing license within five (5) years of employment date.
- Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.
- Possess a valid South Carolina drivers license.
