Lake Greenwood State Park is known locally as the host site for the South Carolina Festival of Flowers Triathlon held each June. In addition to hosting the annual triathlon, the park provides year-round opportunities for excellent South Carolina bass fishing, boating, and offers shoreline campsites and nature trails. The park was one of 16 built by the CCC and many of the original structures built by the work teams remain standing as fine examples of classic CCC architecture. The history and contributions to all South Carolina State Parks are commemorated in an interactive exhibit at the CCC Museum in the Drummond Center.
Job Purpose And Duties
This role involves overseeing advanced tasks and leading skilled labor in the maintenance of large state park operations. Following established procedures and guidelines, the individual plans, coordinates, and supervises maintenance activities for facilities and grounds as directed by the park manager. This position also offers expertise and guidance in specialized trade areas to staff working on maintenance projects. The maintenance supervisor role includes overseeing the training of both new and existing employees, maintaining detailed records for individual projects and equipment use, and assisting management with material management tasks such as requisitions and purchases, ensuring accurate records and reports. Additionally, the individual participates in the planning of annual maintenance projects through regular inspections and provides support to park visitors.
High school diploma or equivalent and three years experience in building and grounds maintenance. A minimum of one year of supervisory experience is required.

Additionally, the individual participates in the planning of annual maintenance projects through regular inspections and provides support to park visitors.
- Following established procedures and guidelines, supervise maintenance staff, and coordinate maintenance activities related to facilities, grounds, and equipment use.
- Directs and performs miscellaneous repairs and park improvements, including carpentry, masonry, electrical, plumbing, painting, and other duties as specified to meet established standards.
- Directs and performs clean-up and housekeeping activities to assure the attractiveness, cleanliness, and safety of park grounds and facilities.
- Plans and schedules the park maintenance program daily. Participates in planning work projects and the completion of these projects in a timely fashion.
- Assists with the operation of the park by completing related forms and reports, ordering and stocking items used for repair and clean-up, and performing routine patrol and close-up procedures.
- Directs or performs repairs of motorized equipment, especially that which is used in his/her area. Performs preventative and routine maintenance and upkeep of all equipment. This includes but is not limited to, park vehicles, mowers, tractors, pumps, shop vacuums, drills, saws, woodworking equipment, and hand tools.
- Perform continuous public relations activities.
- Practice and promote teamwork within the work unit/office, throughout the agency and with external agency stakeholders. Represents office as an active member on agency teams assigned throughout the year.
High school diploma or equivalent and three years experience in building and grounds maintenance. A minimum of one year of supervisory experience is required.
Additional Requirements
- Position requires medium to heavy lifting, walking and standing on uneven terrain, crawling, and working at heights. Exposure to weather conditions, cleaning agents, and other materials used in maintaining park facilities and grounds.
- Able to read and understand written procedures and directions, understand blueprints, and able to write specifications for materials. A working knowledge of mowing equipment, tractors, hand tools, power tools, and related maintenance equipment is required. Ability to interact tactfully and cordially with the public and to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Posses a valid South Carolina Drivers License. Should possess or be able to obtain a Commercial Drivers License within a reasonable period of time. Should possess or be able to obtain a Wastewater Treatment License within a reasonable period of time. Licensed or competent in electrical, plumbing, and carpentry trades.
