This posting will be used to fill multiple summer internship positions in the Department of Transportation District Six offices located in Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester, and Jasper. Assists in engineering activities in the Maintenance and/or Construction Engineering fields. The responsibilities include:
Minimum And Additional Requirements
A high school diploma; or an approved acceptable equivalence. Applicants must be accepted into or currently enrolled in a two-year college or university program in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Science and Management.

- Under direct supervision, assists surveying, construction, inspection and/or material sampling and testing.
- Assists roadway inspectors in the inspection of roadway construction, including areas of asphalt paving, earthwork, base, drainage operations and concrete placement operations.
- Aids with office duties, preparing construction reports and daily work reports in Site Manager, assists with reconciling quantities to closeout projects.
- Assists survey parties, uses surveying equipment correctly to measure elevation, distance and set vertical and horizontal controls.
