Job Responsibilities
Assist in field inspections on new bridges and bridge replacements to ensure that the contractor adheres to SCDOT plans, standards, specifications and contract requirements. Assist in field inspections on all types of roadway items to ensure that the contractor complies with SCDOT plans, standards , s pecifications and contract requirements. Assists in all phases of pile-driving and drill shaft installation. Documents and m a intains all work p erformed by the contractor. Assists in compilation of As-Built construction plans. Assists with Mark up erosion control plans (SWPPP). Assists in sampling materials and logging in certificates utilizing SharePoint and ProjectWise. Assists survey pa rty when necessary. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
A high school diploma and one (1) year of experience that is related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
Physical Requirement: The physical demands for the essential functions of this position involve sitting or standing at a desk for extended periods of time. This position may require occasional travel. This position may require bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, and kneeling. This position required driving and walking for extended periods, treading rough and uneven terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and natural environmental hazards. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies. This position may be exposed to outside environment in all weather conditions and noise.
A motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
