Job Responsibilities:
The South Carolina Office of Resilience, through The Disaster Relief and Resilience Act, is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the Strategic Statewide Resilience and Risk Reduction Plan. This position will support in the implementation of SCOR's watershed-based resilience planning program in assigned watersheds across the state. This planning program focuses on the development, implementation and coordination of resilience projects, programs, and policies at the local level.
Through this program, SCOR will coordinate with communities at the watershed level to identify risk and vulnerability, develop actionable flood mitigation and resilience solutions, and build community capacity by leveraging local, regional, and state partnerships. By considering the principles and data in the Statewide Resilience Plan, and pairing them with local needs assessments, this process will allow for the implementation of projects that meet local needs and consider the impact of potential projects on the larger watershed. The job duties of this position include but are not limited to the following:
- Coordinate with communities at the watershed level to identify risk and vulnerability, develop actionable flood mitigation and resilience solutions, and build community capacity by leveraging local, regional, and state partnerships.
- Inventory and compile relevant plans, studies, and data to be used in the planning process at the federal, state, and local level to inform a watershed-based resilience planning effort.
- Assists the program manager in the update and implementation of the Strategic Statewide Resilience and Risk Reduction Plan.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum and Additional Requirements:
A bachelor's degree and relevant program experience.

- Ability to build and maintain partnerships with diverse internal and external groups.
- Ability to interpret scientific, geographic and hydrology data for a non-technical audience to inform planning decisions.
- Ability to create solutions using analytical skills; Ability to conduct all job duties with a high level of professionalism and abiding by standards of confidentiality and ethics.
- Excellent organizational, listening, written and verbal communication skills; Ability to multi-task effectively and efficiently; Ability to work collaboratively with others; Ability to conduct business in a manner consistent with the mission, policies, and core values of the agency and program.
- Knowledge of relevant state and local laws, regulations, polices, and procedures. Ability to communicate and present to varied audiences to include the public and local and government representatives.
