South Carolina State University's Miller F. Whittaker Library seeks an enthusiastic, innovative, collaborative, and service-oriented librarian for the position of Electronic Resources / Reference Librarian . The selected candidate will monitor trends in accessing, discovering, and advancing knowledge / skills through training, reading of library professional literature, and participation in library and university-wide meetings, committees, and related professional development activities.
Duties and Responsibilities for Entry into Position :
- 1) communicating regularly with external service providers, such as publishers, database vendors, consortia, content providers, and technology suppliers.
- 2) serving as liaison to the IT department and database vendors to manage proxy server access, and configuration.
- 3) coordinating timely investigations and resolution of databases and related electronic resources access problems.
- 4) assisting with electronic resources license agreements and renewal management.
- 5) investigating, evaluating, and recommending new and emerging technologies that will improve or expand services and access to library resources.
- 6) providing database usage statistics, ensuring current database access, and related electronic resources needs.
- 7.) providing reference and information assistance, including library instruction; and
- 8.) serving as liaison to academic departments
Minimum Requirements for Entry into Position :
Master's degree in library and information science or related field.
Preferred Requirements for Entry into Position :
2 years of experience working in Higher Education preferably Library Systems and operations.
Full-Time Position Pay Band : 5
Note : Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications
