Executive Director of South Carolina Timber Producers Association
The South Carolina Timber Producers Association (SCTPA), founded in 1999, seeks toserve as the voice for timber harvesting and allied timber businesses to advance theability of its members to professionally, ethically, efficiently, safely, environmentally andprofitably harvest, produce and transport timber to meet supply demands of our state byproviding continuing education and training opportunities, distributing timber harvesting,hauling, manufacturing and selling information, representing our members in nationaland statewide legislative activities, supporting and advancing sustainable forestrypractices and policies, and aggressively promoting, supporting and conductingprograms of state, regional and national advocacy.
The Executive Director will provide strategic leadership, oversee financial management,advocate for the benefit of members, and build partnerships across the state. This full-time position requires travel throughout South Carolina, including regular presence inColumbia during the legislative session.
Objectives of this roleWork closely with board directors and committees to assess and address issuesaffecting the organizationIncrease awareness of the organization by being the main spokesperson andliaison with media focusing on organizations social media presenceServe as association representative within the state and national industry, relatedassociations, and related government sectorsCultivate and maintain relationships with local, state and federal governmentofficials to monitor, seek and promote legislation for the benefit of all relatedtimber harvesting segmentsResponsibilitiesOversee daily operations of the organization, providing executive direction forprogram strategies and efficiencies, compliance, and quality assuranceManage organization finances including reporting to CPA, develop an annualbudget, assisting CPA with all related finances and providing the board withregular updatesPlan, attend and conduct board meetings, district meetings and the annualmeeting for the benefit of the membership and the promotion of the associationIncrease the organizations social media presence and promotion in an effort tokeep the association relevant and membership activeMaintain records for new and renewal membershipsDevelop and organize the association newsletter for publishing and distribution torecipientsTravel required within the state weekly and occasional out-of-state, overnighttravel required
Required qualificationsEthical, self-motivated / self-initiatedEffective communication skills with ability to work, collaborate, and partner withother affiliated associations and industry related companiesAbility to lead effective meetingsKnowledge of business and / or association managementBudgeting and financial management for basic accounting skills to be inconjunction with associations CPA firmObtain insurance license in SC within 180 days of employmentRegister and maintain registration as a lobbyist for effective work on behalf of thetimber harvesting industryMust be a resident or willing to relocate to SCMaintain an office within 30 miles of Columbia preferredPreferred qualificationsBachelor’s degree in a related fieldExceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skillsExperience in political organizations, trade associations or related groupsCandidate Compensation / BenefitsSalary - $65,000Provided Cell Phone, Computer, Printer / ScannerHealth Insurance reimbursed by associationIRS mileage rate paid for personal vehicle useCONTACTCrad Jaynes SCTPAbcjpaw@windstream.net
