Job Summary:
The ARMHS staff will provide adult rehabilitative mental health services that instruct, assist, and support the recipient in basic living and social skills.   These activities are to help restore a recipient’s skills for managing his or her illness and everyday independent living.  The service areas would include interpersonal communication skills, community resource utilization and integration skills, crisis assistance, relapse prevention skills, health care directives, budgeting and shopping skills, healthy lifestyle skills and practices, cooking and nutrition skills, transportation skills, medication education and monitoring, mental illness symptom management skills, household management skills, employment-related skills, and transition to community living services.

Duties/Responsibilities:
• Provide skills training, assessment, treatment planning and monitoring in the areas identified in the client’s Comprehensive Evaluation  and DLA-20.
• Provide services in a one to one and group format, in the recipient’s home, office and/or community setting.
• Maintain records of progress for each face-to-face meeting and telephone contact with client. Reports will include an assessment of client’s ability to function and manage the symptoms of his/her illness based on observation and interaction with the client. As a result of the assessment, Practitioner will decide the appropriate interventions or assist the client in obtaining and maintaining the highest level of independence possible.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Ability to collaborate with community partners and providers and interdisciplinary teams both internally and externally

• Able to handle confidential information responsibly
• Ability to make decisions in the program requirements

Education and Experience:
• Meets ONE of the standards for Mental Health Practitioner per DHS guidelines as listed below:
o Have at least 30 Semester hours or 45 quarter hours in behavioral health or related fields from an accredited college or university and have at least 2000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to persons with mental illness, traumatic brain injuries (TBIs), developmental disabilities, and/or substance use disorder OR
o Have at least 4,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery area of services with adults with mental illness, traumatic brain injuries (TBIs), developmental disabilities, and/or substance use disorder OR
o Has a master's or other graduate degree in behavioral sciences or related fields.
Physical Requirements:
• Hear and speak in order to use telephones and communicate with people inside and outside the office.
• Be able to travel to recipient's location
• Visual ability to review detailed reports and information, and to use the computer for keyboarding.
• Must be able to manage stairs and ambulate freely in order to access clients in their home if needed.

Work Environment:

The employee must be willing to transport clients in their own vehicles, work in clients’ home appropriately, and interact with clients in the community.  Provide services in-person and via telehealth.
