SUMMARY OF POSITION:  

The South Central Los Angeles Regional Center (SCLARC) is seeking a driven individual for the Jr Application Developer position in the MIS Unit. This position works closely with the MIS Manager and Network Engineer to plan and deploy new systems for the agency and troubleshoot and remediate software, hardware, and network problems. This position also serves as an escalation point for the HelpDesk team. The ideal candidate will be organized and able to work with minimum supervision. This position also develops documentation for the HelpDesk team and reference materials for the agency; good communication skills and the ability to explain technical information to non-technical stakeholders are a must.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

  • Provide extensive assistance on the deployment and ongoing support on SharePoint, OneDrive, and Microsoft Teams
  • Administration of Azure, Exchange Online, Office@Hand
  • Support 3rd Parties in Integration activities and offer technical guidance on deployed solutions.
  • Assist in website design using HTML and CSS code.
  • Answers queries and resolves issues with applications and escalates or closes tickets as necessary
  • Escalates issues to vendors and works with vendors for solutions
  • Ensure compliance with all current client processes and procedures.
  • Assist in developing automation software tooling to bring efficiency within the organization.
  • Be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external clients. 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS: 

•           Active Directory experience. Preferred: experience planning and deploying changes in AD, creating, and deploying GPOs, etc

•           Intermediate to advanced knowledge and understanding of Networking concepts (DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, VPN), Desktop as a Service (Citrix), enterprise VoIP systems, MDM platforms, cloud services (Azure, AzureAD, Exchange, AWS, etc.), iOS and MacOS

•           Experience with at least one programming language: Java, JavaScript, VB, C , C#, jQuery, SQL, etc.

•           Strong knowledge of troubleshooting and assisting end-users with Office programs, especially Outlook and Excel

•           Windows 10/11 Professional/Enterprise PC troubleshooting

•           Experience working on a Microsoft network environment.

•           Understanding of web UI concepts 

•           Experience setting up and troubleshooting Windows servers (2016 and 2019)

 

DESIRED SKILLS:

•           Experience as VoIP admin

•           Experience with SharePoint: setting up sites, managing permissions, etc.

•           Deep knowledge of Office365 products

•           Experience with VMware and understanding of virtualization. 

•           Experience developing apps for Windows, iOS, or Android (academic experience ok, submit link

to portfolio)

•           Experience developing Excel Macros

•           PowerShell experience

•           Experience with web applications technologies: JavaScript, CSS, Bootstrap, HTML,  PHP, 

LAMP/WISA/MEAN, etc.

•           Experience developing RegEx validations

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer engineering, Computer Information Technology, or related field, AND 2 years of professional experience developing applications employed or as an intern/apprentice OR
  • 2 years of professional experience as systems admin or tier 2 IT Engineer/Technician (full-time internships ok) OR Associate Degree (or Minor) in fields mentioned above OR current technical certifications (minimum CompTIA A . Desired Network , Server , CCNA, or other advanced certifications) AND 3 years of professional experience as IT Support Engineer or Tier 2 IT Technician/Helpdesk OR 4 years of continuous professional experience as IT Technician/HelpDesk Tier 1 OR Expired technical certifications AND Recent experience as admin Office 365/AzureAD/Exchange Online AND 5 years of professional experience in the IT/MIS field with a minimum of 2 years continuous experience as Tier 2 IT Technician/HelpDesk, IT Engineer/specialist, or IT Supervisory position
