The Tri-County Career Consultant coordinates all required Workforce Investment Opportunity Act (WIOA) adult program elements and activities to ensure that participants obtain their program goals and objectives as outlined in their Individual Employment Plan.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a case load of adult participants according to WIOA adult regulations to receive work readiness, training services, and academic support to meet common measures.
  • Ensure confidentiality of all files and records, maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, guidance, policies, and procedures.
  • Present information to potential participants regarding services and eligibility requirements of the WIOA program in both group and individual settings.
  • Present workshops including but not limited to those topics identified in WSO Standards 2.0 to diverse audiences.
  • Provide excellent customer service in all phases of work with participants, training providers, and employers, focusing on program success and problem resolution as necessary.
  • Enroll clients per WIOA regulations; collecting and documenting appropriateness prior to service delivery, ensure proper signatures as required on all forms, entering all necessary information into iTrac and documentation in the participant case file.
  • Administer assessments and develop Individual Employment Plans (IEP).
  • Make necessary contacts with participants moving through the continuum of encouraging participation, progress, retention, and positive outcomes.
  • Refer participants to appropriate services for needs outside of the scope of WIOA.
  • Deliver and document supportive services to overcome barriers to education and employment.
  • Assist in screening participants for job openings by reviewing records, assessment, observation and interviewing.
  • Assist in determining best job suited to participant by matching job features to individual’s strengths and needs.
  • To maintain accurate participant files and records according to program guidelines.
  • Facilitate placement into full-time employment as identified through the IEP.
  • Write participant success stories.
  • To accurately determine cost for training, work experience, and/or supportive services
  • Submit all necessary forms, bills, invoices, and other paperwork
  • Complete and track all referrals received for potential participants.
  • Complete exit process for files as needed across all three counties.
  • Perform Business Services duties for Douglas County to help identify training opportunities and build relationships with employers.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or combination of experience and training which demonstrates the ability to work with youth and adult unemployed and underemployed individuals.
  • Successful track record of achieving and exceeding performance targets on a regular basis.
  • Strong technology skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Online Data Management programs.
  • A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity is a required qualification.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to relate to people from various socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Ability to communicate benefits and goals of programs effectively to a wide variety of audiences, in both individual and group formats.
  • Ability to work within a team while maintaining high individual performance standards. Must have ability to organize and prioritize efforts.
  • Ability to work under pressure, adhere to budget and contract requirements, and meet or exceed specific performance criteria.
  • Be able to provide own transportation and attend occasional evening and/or out-of-town meetings (overnight travel may occasionally be required).
