Job Summary :

The Transition Program Technician supports the South Coast Transition Program by assisting in the preparation of qualified students for employment and transition to Vocational Rehabilitation Division (VRD) programs. This role involves working closely with students, educators, and community partners to ensure effective service delivery.

Essential Functions :

  • Maintain strict confidentiality of student and program information.
  • Organize and manage teaching materials and other instructional equipment.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date records related to student progress and employer contacts.
  • Assist students in developing mobility skills to attend necessary appointments.
  • Analyze potential work sites and match eligible clients accordingly.
  • Maintain and update a tracking system for employers and community resources.
  • Provide ongoing follow-up support to eligible students.
  • Offer one-on-one and group assistance in vocational and career-related employment activities.
  • Perform duties independently with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain consistent attendance to ensure program continuity.
  • Adhere to the professional and ethical performance standards outlined in OAR 584-020-0005-0035.
  • Conduct responsibilities in alignment with professional expectations and best practices.
  • Work collaboratively and transparently with school district personnel, VRD, students, and community partners.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Superintendent.

Qualifications :

  • Successful completion of a background check.
  • Proficiency in typing, filing, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Ability to use basic computer programs effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to engage with students and adults.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work varying hours as needed.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently and within a team.
  • Ability to leverage community resources to support student transitions.
  • Ability to discern decisions within the scope of the position and escalate issues as necessary.

  • Education and Certification Requirements :

  • High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in a related field preferred.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification required.
  • Working Conditions :

  • The employee will work in various settings, including classrooms, special education environments, and community locations.
  • Travel may be required.
  • Conflict resolution skills are necessary for effective student and staff interactions.
  • The role requires standing for extended periods (up to 30 minutes) and quick mobility to ensure student safety.
  • Outdoor supervision may be required, including during adverse weather conditions.
  • The employee must be able to lift materials, boxes, or equipment weighing up to 30 pounds and assist in moving heavier equipment with team support.
  • Potential exposure to biohazards such as human waste, saliva, and blood requires adherence to appropriate protective precautions.
  • TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT :

    10 month -CLASSIFIED POSITION

    Union : OSEA Chapter 119

    Rate : $ 19.25 - $ 20.43

    First consideration for this position will be given to Chapter 119 members of the collective bargaining unit.

    A fingerprint-based criminal history investigation will be required.
