South College Knoxville is seeking a student-centered instructor to teach courses for the Associate of Science in Medical Office Administration Program. This role involves teaching online asynchronous courses (Healthcare Office Management, Records Management, Medical Ethics and Governance, Healthcare Insurance and Medical Coding). These specific Medical Office Administration courses will be fully remote. The ideal candidate will be innovative and utilize diverse instructional methods to effectively engage students with different learning styles.
At a minimum, the essential functions of this position shall include:
- Effectively conducting online lectures, laboratory sessions, and/or clinical courses as required.
- Be available to hold office hours and dedicate time to meet students' needs and questions, ensuring prompt and efficient responses.
- Assisting in implementing College policies, objectives, and functions in accordance with South College’s philosophy.
- Capable of providing engaging weekly recorded lectures for students, ensuring that content is accessible and aligned with course objectives.
- Keeping students informed of their progress by promptly grading assignments, projects, skill assessments, competency evaluations, and other tasks.
- Facilitating student connections with relevant campus and community resources.
- Aiding and supporting the program director with student retention and reports.
Requirements
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and office administration management position.
- An understanding of educational theory and techniques.
- Experience as a MOA and/or working as a front office/clinical manager.
- Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing technology for instructional purposes.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Dedication to fostering student achievement and creating an inclusive learning environment.
- Preference will be given to those with a proven record of excellence in teaching at the postsecondary or higher education level
- Candidates should have either foundational or advanced knowledge in anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, medical assisting/nursing, phlebotomy skills, pharmacology, diseases of the body, office administration, and medical law and ethics.
- Experience with LMS platforms (Canvas, Blackboard, D2L, etc.).
