Serve as a client advocate providing client information and peer support.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients in identifying personal goals for recovery
- Assist clients in working with the treatment team in determining the steps to take in order to achieve their goals
- Utilize and teach problem solving skills
- Share personal experience to communicate what skills, strength, and supports and resources they use
- Teach and role model the value of every client's recovery experience
- Model effective coping techniques and self-help strategies
- Educate clients about community and natural supports and how to use these in the recovery process
- Assist clients in developing empowerment skills and combating stigma through self-advocacy
- Participate in the collaborative treatment planning process
- Participate in weekly team meetings
- Receive weekly supervision by the Clinical Director
- Complete staff development activities
- Knowledge of the recovery process and the ability to facilitate recovery using established mental health processes
- Knowledge of signs and symptoms of mental illness and the ability to assist the client to address symptoms
- Good written and verbal communication skills. Be comfortable working with others as a part of a team
- Ability to work with individuals between 16 and 34 years of age
- Some computer skills necessary. Expected to handle routine duties independently and establish common priorities for their assignments
