The College of Business at Black Hills State University invites applicants for an Instructor of Business (Statistics/Analytics) starting fall 2025.
Instructor positions have defined responsibilities in teaching and may include research and/or service (University, professional, and community).The College of Business is AACSB Accredited and offers undergraduate business programs in Professional Accountancy and Business Administration with the following specializations: accounting, economics, entrepreneurial studies, human resources management, management, and marketing. The College of Business also offers an MBA in applied management and an Associate’s in tourism and hospitality at the Rapid City center. The University is primarily a teaching institution, and successful undergraduate teaching is central to its mission.
DUTIES:
- Teach undergraduate courses in at least three of the following areas: Economics, Business Statistics, Business Analytics, Marketing Research, Human Resource Analytics and may include a graduate course. Teaching assignments include a mix of delivery modalities (face-to-face, hybrid and online) and includes courses at the Rapid City campus.
- Teaching assignments are four to five courses per semester.
- Depending on the interests of the successful candidate, opportunities exist for service to the College of Business, the University and/or the community, to develop new courses and contribute to curriculum modifications for various programs, or for research collaboration.
- Active contributions to College and University service activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Master’s degree in Economics, Business Statistics, Business Analytics, Management/Decision Science, Operations Research, Statistics/Applied Mathematics, or other fields with a substantial focus on statistics and data analytics. An MBA with substantial relevant professional experience will be considered.
- A minimum of three years of successful teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels OR a minimum of three years of business or industry experience appropriate to the course subject matter will be considered with strong evidence of the ability/potential to teach at the university level.
- Knowledge of data management software platforms. Experience with data analysis and presentation. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Terminal degree in one of the disciplines stated above.
- Evidence of quality teaching, including faculty evaluation scores and rating, teaching awards earned, courses designed, developed, and/or revised.
- Undergraduate Degree/Minor in Business or a closely related field.
- Professional experience in information systems/technology and/or business analytics.
COMMENTS:
- The term contract comes with the possibility of renewal.
