South Dakota State University Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry & Physics is offering an exciting career opportunity as an Instructor or Lecturer in Physics. We are seeking a dedicated Physics Instructor/Lecturer to join our team in delivering high-quality undergraduate physics education. The physics program at SDSU provides students with a solid foundation in scientific disciplines through challenging coursework, laboratory explorations and research opportunities. This position is located in Brookings, South Dakota and is a 9-month, full-time, benefits-eligible position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teaching undergraduate lectures and laboratory courses for both majors and non-majors across various modalities (in person, online, hybrid, etc).
- Participate in curriculum development and course content creation in order to foster an effective learning experience for students.
- Coordinate laboratory section schedules as well as train, supervise and mentor graduate student instructors.
- Provide service to the department, college and university through participation in faculty committees, student recruitment, student orientation, accreditation and assessment, etc.
SALARY:
The salary and rank for this position is commensurate with qualifications and experience, starting at $60,000 for Instructor level. We offer a generous retirement plan that includes 6% matching, 9.34 hours of sick leave each month, and eleven paid holidays. Relocation benefits are available per university’s guidelines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s Degree in Physics or a closely related field completed by first day of employment.
- Previous teaching experience;
- Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Organizational and time management skills;
- Strong interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work as a contributing team member;
- Ability or potential to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate educational materials and direct effective programs.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with supervision of personnel (including managing teaching assistants).
- Leadership in developing course content.
- Experience using technology in managing and/or delivering educational programs.
