The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at South Dakota State University (SDSU) invites applications for a non-tenure track Instructor of Mathematics to begin August 2025. We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced teacher to assist with undergraduate, general education mathematics courses for students who are majors and non-majors alike. This is a 9-month, part-time (30%) position that is supervised by the Department Head of Mathematics and Statistics. This position requires in-person teaching on SDSU’s Main Campus in Brookings, SD.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, an average teaching load of 3 sections of undergraduate general education math courses taught online, in person, or hybrid over the 9-month Academic Year. Specific teaching load may vary from semester to semester based on enrollment and the needs of the department. This position may also include service responsibilities to the Department, College and University. Excellence in teaching and mentoring students is expected.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- M.S. degree in Mathematics, or closely related field with completion of minimum 18 credits of mathematics courses by starting date of appointment.
- Ability to teach undergraduate level mathematics courses.
- Effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ph.D in Mathematics, or closely related field, by starting date of appointment.
- Experience developing curriculum and course content in relevant subject areas.
- Experience teaching online and/or at the collegiate level.
